Play Days
The Healthy Active Kids Play Days program has now been completed. At this stage there are no future Play Days scheduled. However the Toy Library stocks a great range of toys to promote healthy, active play. Members are welcome to borrow equipment and toys for their own events.
The benefits of the 'Healthy Active Kids Play Days' were:
- Free toys from the toy library's 'Outside and Active' categories set up at each session for children to play with. Parents are able to then borrow anything that their children enjoyed on the day to take home for the following fortnight to prolong the physical activity experience (and the fun!).
- Guest speaker or planned activity for children each month. This may be a nutritionist, early childhood nurse, baby massage instructor, occupational therapist, yoga for children, move to learn session, brain gym exercises or any other health related speaker/activity as requested by those involved. Parents will have the opportunity to ask questions of the 'experts' in relation to their child's health and development.
- Each session will have a free healthy morning tea supplied to give parents ideas for healthy snack options for themselves and their children. Recipe cards from each session's healthy snack will be available for parents to take home.
- Unlike many playgroups there will be no fees and no pack up required by parents.
